Bengals finally beat Pittsburgh.

By: Cooper Ledford SWO SPORTS FOUNDER AND CEO

The Cincinnati Bengals have always hated their AFC North Division rivals, the Pittsburgh Steelers. Pittsburgh's QB, Ben Roethlisberger has never lost an NFL game in his home state of Ohio, until last Sunday. The Steelers can no longer say "We Dey!" and the Bengals can now answer happily "Not Pittsburgh!"

Here is how the game went. In the 1st quarter, the Steelers, on their first drive kicked a field goal to make it 3-0 Pittsburgh on top. Pittsburgh was not done in the 1st, Big Ben found Willy Parker who took it home, a 27 yard touchdown pass, the score was 10-0 after the PAT. Into the the second quarter we go, the Burgh started it out with a Jeff Reed 24 yard field goal to give the Steelers control with a 13-0 lead. The Bengals would call on the kicker, Shayne Graham to kick a 34 yard field goal to make it a 2 posses ion lead, 13-3 into the half. To start the 2nd half, Johnathan Joseph picked it off and returned it 30 yards for a TD and it was 9-13, the PAT was missed. Then from the 1 yard line, Roethlisberger took it in himself and it was 20-9 Pittsburgh on top. In the 4th, Cedric Benson ran it to the house, a 23 yard TD run, the 2 pointer was missed, it was within 5, 20-15. The Bengals were working on a game winning drive, it was 4th and 10, Palmer threw it to Leonard for a first down to keep the game alive, very next play, Palmer found Andre Caldwell in the endzone and it was 21-20 Cincinnati on top, then a 2 pointer was good to make it 23-20, and that was the final. Bengals come from behind and get an epic win. Cincinnati is now 2-1 and will face the Cleveland Browns next Sunday.

Gators chomp Wildcats

By: Jeremy Mays SWO SPORTS CEO

Kentucky gets murdered by the Florida Gators once again. They have now lost 23 consecutive games to the Gators. To start all of the scoring off, with 11:13 to go in the 1st Qtr, Caleb Sturgis of Florida hit a 22-yard field goal for a 3-0 UF lead. Tim Tebow rushed for a 3-yard TD with 7:11 to go in the 1st and the PAT by Sturgis was good. 7-0 Florida. Chris Rainey recovered a blocked punt for a TD with 6:14 of the 1st Qtr left and Sturgis field goal was good. 17-0 Gators lead. With 2:15 to go in the 1st Qtr, Tebow rushed for another TD for 2-yards and the PAT was good for Sturgis for a 24-0 Gators lead. Right before the end of the first Qtr, Tebow threw a 44-yard TD pass to Aaron Hernandez. PAT was good for Sturgis. Florida leads 31-0 after a monstrous 1st Qtr. UK's only points would come when Mike Hartline threw a 2-yard TD pass to Ross Bogue and the PAT was good for Lones Seiber. Florida leads 31-7. Tim Tebow would have to leave the game during the third Qtr and be taken to the hospital after a hard sack. With 3:45 to go in the 3rd Qtr, Sturgis would again connect for a 32-yard field goal to increase Florida's lead 34-7. The final scoring would take place with 6:39 to go in the ball game when John Brantley and Riley Cooper hooked up for an 8-yard pass. The PAT was good for Caleb Sturgis and Florida wins 41-7.

Ohio State wins the Illibuck Trophy!

By: Cooper Ledford SWO SPORTS FOUNDER AND CEO

The Ohio State Buckeyes were heading into week 4 with a record of 2-1. The Buckeyes played their first Big Ten game of the 2009 season vs the Illinois Fighting Illini. Before I tell the score, I will tell everyone how the game went.

In the 1st quarter on the Buckeye's 2nd drive it was 4th down, so Ohio State sent on the kicker Aaron Pettrey to kick a 50 yarder, it was good and OSU had a 3-0 lead and never looked back. Into the 2nd quarter, another 4th down, OSU sent out Aaron Pettrey to try for FG number 2 of the game, it was successful and OSU had the lead 6-0. Later on in the 2nd, Pryor handed it off to Boom Herron and he ran it in for a 4 yard TD rin and it was 13-0, and that was the score at the half. To start the 2nd half, Boom got another hand off and ran it in for 2 yards and it was 20-0 Ohio State on top. Ohio State was not done in the 3rd. Aaron Pettrey kicked a 3 27 yard FG and it was 23-0 into the 4th. Pryor wanted TD pass and also wanted it on a 4th down, and he got it, it was caught by Dane Sanzenbacher and it was 30-0 and that is the Final. So OSU wins the Illibuck trophy.

What the Bengals must do to beat Pittsburgh.

By: Cooper Ledford

The Cincinnati Bengals looked very good in last week's game vs. the Packers, but will they be able to beat the defending Super Bowl champions? I think it is possible if the Bengals are able to run the ball efficiently. Cedric Benson has looked pretty good so far, but Cincinnati has not played as good of a team as Pittsburgh. If Cedric Benson can get big gains against the best defense in the National Football League, then the Bengals should be able to win, of course there is more to it than the running game. The Bengals will also need to be able to pass the ball, Carson Palmer looked better than he has in a long time last Sunday with 185 yards passing, and got his first regular season win in over 600 days. If Carson plays as good or better than last week, that will be bug for the Bengals. Also the improving defense has to stop Big Ben and the rest of the Steeler's offense. Not only is the Miami (OH) alumni dangerous, so is the former Buckeye, Santonio Holmes. Holmes can catch about anything you throw at him, weather it was a hail mary from Troy Smith, or a super bowl winning catch from Big Ben. Cincy will have to put pressure on Ben and stop their (poor) running. Also will have to stop the Steelers from having big gains. All and all the Bengals COULD win. I say the final is 24-21 Bengals in OT.

Buckeyes stop Rockets from lifting off.

By: Cooper Ledford SWO SPORTS FOUNDER AND CEO

CLEVELAND- The Ohio State Buckeyes were trying to rebound off of a tough loss at home last week vs. USC, that is exactly what OSU did. Ohio State won 38-0 here is how they got all of those points. In the first quarter, after a Toledo punt, Pryor threw a bomb and was caught by Dane Sanzenbacher for a 76 yard TD completion to give the Buckeyes a 7-0 lead. Later on in the first Pryor found Sanzenbacher once again in the endzone for a 18 yard TD. The Buckeyes had a 14-0 lead. Then into the second quarter we go, Dan "Boom" Herron ran for 4 yards into the endzone to make it 21-0 OSU. Boom Herron has a rushing TD in 7 strait games. Before the half OSU decided to bring out Aaron Pettrey to give them 3, and that's what he did, a 47 yarder to make it 24-0 Ohio State at the half. Into the third quarter, the Buckeyes get great field position after a 44 yard run by Pryor, a few plays later Ohio State had the ball at the 1 yard line and Jim Tressel decided to tell Terrelle Pryor to run it in him self for 6, and it was now 31-0 OSU. The Buckeyes would score once more, it was in the fourth quarter with about seven minutes to go and Pryor found DeVier Posey in the endzone for a TD and it was 38-0 and that would be the final. Reds sweep the Astros

By: Cooper Ledford

CINCINNATI- For the first time in a while, I am going to do a Reds recap. That means to watch video highlights you can go to http://www.youtube.com/Redsfancoop.
Okay so in game 1 of the series the Reds won 3-1. Bronson Arroyo was on the hill for Cincinnati and picked up his 13th win. In the top of inning number 6 Carlos Lee his an RBI double to make it 1-0 Astros. The Reds would answer back when Jay Bruce drove in 2 with the bases loaded and Cincy was leading 2-1. The Reds were not finished until the 8th when Brandon Phillips hit his 20th home run of 2009 and it was 3-1 Reds. That would end up to be the final.
GAME 2: The Reds won this one also, this one was also a close game, the final was 5-4. Here is how the runs came across. In the 1st inning Matsui hit an RBI single and made it 1-0 Houston. The Astros were not finished in the top of the 1st, Miguel Tejada hit an RBI single to make it 2-0 Astros. Then another RBI in the same inning made it 3-0 Astros. The Reds would get on the board in the bottom of the 1st when Drew Stubbs crushed a solo home run to make it 3-1. Then the Reds made it 4-2. Then Scott Rolen hit an 2 run RBI doube to make it 4-4. Then Paul Juanish hit his 3rd double of the game to drive in a run and make it 5-4 Cincy and that would be the final.
GAME 3: The Reds got a close win 6-5. In the bottom on the 2nd Jonny Gomes hit a solo home run to make it 1-0 Reds. Then in the 3rd Matsui tied the game with a home run to right field to make it tied at 1. Then in the top of the 3rd Carlos Lee hit a solo homer to make it 2-1 Astros. Then the former Red Jeff Keppinger hit a solo homer to make it 3-1 Astros. Then the Reds would tie it up. The Reds would then lead the game after a suicide squeez by Lehr and it was 4-1 Reds. Then the Astros got another homer in the the 5th to tie it up at 4. Then next batter Keppinger again hit a solo home run to make it 5-4 Astros. The Reds tied it after a Stubbs RBI single. The Reds were not happy being tied so they called on Rolen to look at a wild pitch to score a run and Reds were winning 6-5 and that was the final.

Southern California is able to stop OSU but in a close game

By: Cooper Ledford

COLUMBUS- The Buckeyes were heading into week 2 pumped up and ready to take on the favored USC Trojans. USC win 18-15. In the 1st Quarter Johnson had a TD run to make it 7-0 USC. OSU would tie it up when BOOM Herron got a 1 yard TD run. Then USC and OSU would get field goals. Soon OSU would get 2 off of a high snap on a punt and it was a saftey and was 12-10 OSU. Then another FG for the Ohio State Buckeyes made it 15-10 OSU, that was the score going into the 4th. Then USC came back and got a TD and won.

What Ohio State needs to do to get the big win.

By: Coop Ledford SWO SPORTS FOUNDER AND CEO

The Ohio State Buckeyes are playing a very tough University of Southern California team tomorrow. USC is a great team, however the Ohio State University Buckeyes have a chance to win. First of all, Ohio State HAS to do a better job protecting Terrelle Pryor, yes, Pryor can break sacks and tackles then any other QB in the nation, but won't always. If there is pressure on Terrelle Pryor, that can cause numerous things to happen, such as fumbles, interceptions, sacks, incompletions, and intentional grounding penalties. If the big guys up front do their job and do it right, Terrelle Pryor should put on a very entertaining show Saturday at the shoe. Second, the whole defense will have to play 101%. USC is a great running team, their running backs were explosive vs. San Jose State last week. The Buckeyes will have to stop the run AND pass and prevent big plays. Third, Ohio State's defense will need to pressure the Trojan's QB Matt Barkley. The true freshman was great vs San Jose State, but OSU is a lot better than San Jose's. The Buckeye's defense should play a big part in this game. If OSU's defense plays good, they should be able to force fumbles, USC could not hold on to the football last Saturday. Lastly, the Sophomore QB Terrelle Pryor has to play better than ever. He was great in the Fiesta Bowl, but might have to be better to beat Southern California. Pryor needs to be able to make good plays, get 1st downs, and HAS to be able to do more than just pass the football. All and all I say THE OHIO STATE UNIVERSITY BUCKEYES can win this game. I say the final score is 23-21 F/OT Ohio State University Buckeyes win it.

Bearcats head into top 25 after win at Rutgers.

By: Cooper Ledford

NEW JERSEY- The Cincinnati Bearcats were underdogs heading into the 2009 season opener vs the Rutgers Scarlet Knights. The Cats sure went against those odds and won 47-15. Here is how some scoring took place. In the opening drive for UC Tony Pike was 6 for 6 and then on 2nd and goal Pike handed it off to Pead for the TD and make it 7-0 UC on top. Rutgers would give the fans in Piscataway something too cheer about after a TD run by Joe Martinek and we were tied at 7. Then into the second quarter UC's Jake Rodgers kicked 30 yard FG and gave the Bearcats a 3 point lead. The Bearcats were far from done in the 2nd quarter. The Bearcats would get a 10 point lead after back-up QB, Travis Kelce ran into the endzone for a TD and make it 17-7 UC. In the same quarter Tony Pike got his 1st TD pass of 2009 to Marshwan Gilyard and it was now 24-7. Then UC's Isaiah Pead got a 41 yard pass from Pike to make it a graet 31-7 lead for Cincinnati. Into the 3rd quarter we go, Travis Kelce got the scoring started with a 2 yard TD run and it was now 38-7. Then a 1 yard pass from Tony Pike to Jacob Ramsey in the endzone gave UC a nice 45-7 lead. Into the 4th now, Rutgers scored their first points since the 1st quarter and it was off of a 7 yard pass from Savage to Shamar Graves. The scarlet Knights decided to go for 2, not that it would make a difference, however it was a succses and it was now 45-15. The Bearcats would then get 2 point thinks to a penelty on Rutgers in the endzone and it was a saftey and was now 47-15 and that would be the final. Tony Pike was amazing with 362 passing yards. Bearcats are now ranked 23rd and are 1-0.

Wildcats don't let the Redhawks fly an inch

By: Cooper Ledford SWO SPORTS FOUNDER AND CEO

CINCINNATI- The Kentucky Wildcats opened their season at Paul Brown Stadium vs. the Miami University Redhawks. The Wildcats dominated and won 42-0. I predicted 35-3 UK. Here is how the scoring took place. In the 1st Quarter Mike Hartline connected to Randall Cobb in the air for a 27 yard TD pass and it was 7-0 UK. 5 minutes later UK runningback Derrick Locke ran for a 16 yard TD and made it 14-0. Later in the 1st Hartline found Chris Matthews through the air for a TD 21-0 UK. Into the secong quarter UK had Randall Cobb run into the endzone for a TD and it was 28-0 UK. Same Quarter, Trevard Lindley had a 25 Yd Interception return for a TD and it was 35-0 Wildcats. Then going into the 4th UK was amazing, 35-0. In the 4th Moncell Allen had a 9 Yd TD run and made it 42-0 UK and that was the final. Uk is 1-0 on the season and Miami of Ohio is 0-1.

Buckeyes stop Navy from Sailing too far.

By: Cooper Ledford SWO SPORTS FOUNDER AND CEO

COLUMBUS- The Ohio State Buckeyes opened their season in a close game. Before I tell you the final score I will give you the recap. In the First Quarter Pryor found Dane Sanzenbacher through the air and Sanzenbacher was able to brake a tackle and get into the endzone for a 38 yard touchdown pass. The score was 7-0 OSU on top. The Navy did not want to be losing, so Ricky Dobbs, the Navy QB ran it in for a 16 yard touchdown. The Buckeyes would take the lead right back with a 23 yard field goal by Aaron Pettrey 10-7 Buckeyes. Then in the Second Quarter Terrelle Pryor ran for a 2 yard touchdown, Pryor now had a rushing and passing touchdown, but more importantly the Buckeyes had a 17-7 lead. The Bucks increased their lead with a 25 yard field goal byAaron Pettrey to make it a promising 20-7 lead. However Marcus Curry was not happy being down by 13 so he caught a 16 yard pass in the endzone touchdown Navy and was close 14-20 OSU still on top. The Bucks would fial to get into the endzone on their next drive so Aaron Pettrey got his 3rd field goal of the game, this one for a long 52 yards, the Buckeyes had the lead 23-14. So with the lead in the 4th quarter the Buckeyes increased it with a BOOM Herron 6 yard touchdown run and make it 29-14. Then after Navy stopped OSU on 4th and 1 they had the ball, Ricky Dobbs threw an 85 yard touchdown pass to Curry and make it close once again 29-21. Ricky Dobbs was not done scoring as he ran for a 24 yard touchdown and make it really close 27-29. The Navy HAD to go for 2 since their was only 02:23 left in the game. Dobbs decided to pass it, it was picked off by Brian Rolle in the endzone and taken all the way back and that gave OSU 2 more points and make it 31-27 and that was the final so OSU is 1-0 on the season. Reds sweep the Pirates in the double header

By: Cooper Ledford

CINCINNATI- The Cincinnati matched up with their arch rivals, the Pittsburgh Pirates. The Reds beat Pittsburgh in the first game of he double header with the core being 4-3. The final run was in the bottom of the 9th when the Pirates threw a wild pitch and brought McDonals home. Game 2 The Reds won as well and won 6-3. The Reds were able to win because of great pitching by Johnny Cueto, good hitting by Drew Stubs, Brandon Phillips and Jonny Gomes. The Reds try to win the series as they play at 7 on FSN Ohio.
