Reds sweep the Astros

By: Cooper Ledford

CINCINNATI- For the first time in a while, I am going to do a Reds recap. That means to watch video highlights you can go to http://www.youtube.com/Redsfancoop.
Okay so in game 1 of the series the Reds won 3-1. Bronson Arroyo was on the hill for Cincinnati and picked up his 13th win. In the top of inning number 6 Carlos Lee his an RBI double to make it 1-0 Astros. The Reds would answer back when Jay Bruce drove in 2 with the bases loaded and Cincy was leading 2-1. The Reds were not finished until the 8th when Brandon Phillips hit his 20th home run of 2009 and it was 3-1 Reds. That would end up to be the final.
GAME 2: The Reds won this one also, this one was also a close game, the final was 5-4. Here is how the runs came across. In the 1st inning Matsui hit an RBI single and made it 1-0 Houston. The Astros were not finished in the top of the 1st, Miguel Tejada hit an RBI single to make it 2-0 Astros. Then another RBI in the same inning made it 3-0 Astros. The Reds would get on the board in the bottom of the 1st when Drew Stubbs crushed a solo home run to make it 3-1. Then the Reds made it 4-2. Then Scott Rolen hit an 2 run RBI doube to make it 4-4. Then Paul Juanish hit his 3rd double of the game to drive in a run and make it 5-4 Cincy and that would be the final.
GAME 3: The Reds got a close win 6-5. In the bottom on the 2nd Jonny Gomes hit a solo home run to make it 1-0 Reds. Then in the 3rd Matsui tied the game with a home run to right field to make it tied at 1. Then in the top of the 3rd Carlos Lee hit a solo homer to make it 2-1 Astros. Then the former Red Jeff Keppinger hit a solo homer to make it 3-1 Astros. Then the Reds would tie it up. The Reds would then lead the game after a suicide squeez by Lehr and it was 4-1 Reds. Then the Astros got another homer in the the 5th to tie it up at 4. Then next batter Keppinger again hit a solo home run to make it 5-4 Astros. The Reds tied it after a Stubbs RBI single. The Reds were not happy being tied so they called on Rolen to look at a wild pitch to score a run and Reds were winning 6-5 and that was the final.
