The Cincinnati Reds were trying to win the series against the reigning World Series Champions, the San Francisco Giants. Those Giants were trying to get a win and settle with the series split. Both starting pitchers did well today, but it was Sanchez's team that was able to get the win. The Giants won the game 4-2, here is how.
The Reds had 2 on in the 4th inning with nobody out. Scott Rolen came up to the plate and delivered, as he hit an RBI double to plate Votto, it was 1-0 Cincinnati. Same inning, they were loaded with no outs and Renteria gave this a ride deep to right, it was back, back, back, back, caught! It was a sac fly to make it 2-0.
Unfortunately that is all the Reds would get.
The Giants would get on the board in the bottom of the 4th when Huff hit an RBI double, it was 2-1.
San Fran would tie it up when Cody Ross hit into a fielder's choice, the run would score. That was in the 7th inning. Also in that 7th inning, the G-Men would take the lead when Schierholtz hit a sac fly, 3-2 the score. They would then get some insurance when Huff hit a sac fly to make it 4-2.
The Giants bullpen, Ramirez, Lopez, Romo, and Wilson got the job done. Ramirez is the winner, Wilson gets the save, and the loser is Jose Arredondo.
So the Reds and Giants split the series. This game was overshadowed by the NBA Finals. And guess what, LeBron James, D-Wade, and Chris Bosh's team, the Miami Heat lost to the Dallas Mavericks. The Mavs are NBA Champions! Just thought I would throw that in there.
Tonight the Reds will get on the plane and head to LA to take on the Dodgers. Tomorrow's game time is set for 10:10 PM ET and will be televised on Fox Sports Ohio.
