Today during the Reds game, as many fans saw on TV, Francisco Cordero and Gerald Laird were exchanging some words with each other via yelling.
To read an extremely biased Cardinal article click HERE.
Okay, well if you did not click on that link the rest of the article will not make much since to you. I suggest you go read that (poor) article, so you can hear my thoughts on it.
Okay, so the reason why Laird was mad was because Cordero hit Albert Pujols in the 9th inning. Okay, I understand that you are mad, you don't want your players to get hurt. And by the way, I highly doubt this was intentional, I mean Pujols became the tying run, plus Cordero had 2 strikes on Albert. No way that was intentional. STL Sports Minute agrees with me on that. But, they say that the yelling after the game could have easily been avoided, and also added that like most Reds, Cordero is classless.
Hold up, who started this again? Gerald Laird. What team does he play for? The Cardinals. And like that brawl the Cards and Reds had last August, the Red Birds are trying to act like they did nothing wrong. Nothing wrong? Then if they did nothing wrong Francisco Cordero wouldn't have been mad. He wouldn't have got mad is Laird simply said "Hey, don't hit our guys.". Laird obviously added some colorful language into that, and probably called Francisco something other than his name.
Why would he do that? Because he is classless.
Yeah that's right, I said classless. It's Lairds fault this happen, and like some other Cardinals players (Chris Carpenter), he does not know how to behave himself.
Now STL Sports Minute may just be mad because a hated team just swept them. But I don't know for sure. This makes me admire Brandon Phillips. The Cardinals really do just complain (not the word he used) about everything they possibly can.
STL Sports Minute adds this in their article:
The Reds are good. They are really good, lets at least acknowledge that. But they never will become a "real winner" with all of the on-field antics and foolery that persistently rears its ugly head with that ball club.
Well, yes the Reds are good. But what? Not a real winner? Well, I am pretty sure we won the NL Central last season, is that winning? And adding all that other crap saying "on-field antics" etc. Wow.
Let me just clear this up. This is how I feel about the Cardinals/Reds situation.
Brandon Phillips had every right to say what he did about the Cardinals last year. They really do just complain about everything and have an excuse for everything. He is 100% correct, and Cards fans know that too. And another thing, Cardinals players can't act like they never say anything ugly about another team in the locker room. Hal McCoy was never even supposed to write that, and quite frankly, he mad a huge mistake in doing so.
Now let's talk about the actual brawl last year. Okay, it was just a verbal exchange between Phillips and Molina. Then the great Chris Carpenter had to be the first one on the field and get everyone else to follow. He is a huge reason why it ever happened. Then it got ugly when Johnny Cueto was pinned against the backstop. He was either going to get hurt pretty badly, or he could start kicking trying to tell people to get away. So he went with the 2nd option. An option me and you would have went with too. What do you want him to do--just stand there and take it? I dunno about you, but I would want out of there, and wouldn't want to be involved in it, so I would start doing anything to get out of it.
This is also in the article:
The Cardinals and their fans should be smiling. Yes the lost this series and the Reds were superior this weekend. But the Reds once again are showing that they are a weak team psychologically.
Well Cardinals fans should be smiling that it is only May, and there is plenty of season left. The Reds should be smiling because the Cards are once again showing that they are a weak team psychologically, and a weak team when it comes to playing the game of baseball as well.
It's unbelievable how bad of fans a city in Missouri can have.
The strangest part of this whiney Cardinal culture is that no aspect of the franchise is exempted from this characterization. The fans, the journalists, the broadcasters, the coaches and the players all observe these "Cardinals customs".
ReplyDeleteJason, I could not agree with you more on that one. The whole Cardinals organization acts that way.
