Bucks Blow Out Marshall In Opener

By:  Cooper Ledford

The #2 Ohio State Buckeyes were taking on the Marshall Thundering Herd, Thursday night, in the 2010 season opener.  Terrelle Pryor and the Bucks were trying to play like they did in the Rose Bowl, and that they did.  The Buckeyes defense looked great, as they did not let Marshall on the board (special teams let them).  Terrelle Pryor did great, as he went 17/25, threw for 3 touchdowns, off of 247 yards, and no picks.  OSU ends up winning, 45-7.  Here is how.

After the kickoff fumble, the Bucks had the ball on the 6 yard line, and it was 3rd down.  But, Pryor was able to connect with DeVier Posey for the Buckeyes first score of the season, 7-0 the score with 13:42 to play in the 1st.  Then, 3 minutes later, Brandon Saine ran it in from 4 yards out, and it was already 14-0.  But, not for long.

With 2:21 to go in the 1st, Basil was trying for a 53 yard field goal, it was blocked and returned for a touchdown by Shakoor.  14-7 the score.

Ohio State would answer back about 1 minute later, when Pryor connected with Sanzenbacher for a 65 yard touchdown pass, a long one!  21-7 the score at the end of the 1st.

To 2nd quarter we go.  OSU scored two youchdowns, one was a 45 yard run by Brandon Saine, that made it 28-7.  Then, The Herd's quarterback, Brian Anderson was picked off by Brian Rolle, and he returned it for a 30 yard score, 35-7 the score at the half.

In the 2nd half, the 11 Warriors scored twice.  Once in the 3rd quarter, once in the 4th.  The 3rd quarter score was when Pryor threw to Posey for an 11 yard TD pass, 2nd time in the game TP and DP connected for 6.  The score was 42-7.  Then, in the 4th quarter, Devin Barclay nailed a 34 yard field goal, 45-7 the score and that is how she finished.

Besides Pryor, there was another player that did great, Brandon Saine.  Saine ran for 103 yards on 9 carries, and had 2 touchdowns.

So Ohio State is 1-0, and will take on Miami (FL) next week, at home.  Game time is set for 3:40 PM ET, and will be televised on ESPN.
