Hurricane With Limited Damage in Columbus

By:  Cooper Ledford

The last time the Ohio State Buckeyes and Miami (FL) Hurricanes met was in the 2002 National Championship Game, where the Buckeyes captured the Title.  Miami was looking for revenge, 8 years later.  The 12th-ranked 'Canes played good, but not as good as the 2nd-ranked Buckeyes.  Ohio State was able to get the win, 36-24.  A big reason Ohio State won was the fact that Jacory Harris threw 4 interceptions, and Barclay's 5 field goals.  Here is how all the scoring took place.

The Men Of The Scarlet And Gray scored first, after a Jacory Harris interception to Williams, as Barclay nailed a 24 yard field goal, that made it 3-0, but that lead would be demolished.

On the kickoff, Lamar Miller returned the kick for an 88 yard touchdown, Miami had a 7-3 lead.  10-3 would be the score after Bosher kicked a 51 yard field goal, so Miami was looking good.

But, Ohio State was able to answer back after a 2 play drive.  Pryor connected with Posey for a 62 yard gain, then was able to find Brandon Saine for an 18 yard touchdown pass, that made it 10-10.  Then, still in the 2nd quarter, Devin Barclay kicked a 41 yard field gaol, that made it 13-10 and the Buckeyes had their lead back.

After Harris threw his 2nd interception, Ohio State was able to score off of a 4 yard touchdown run by Boom Herron, the score was 20-10 with OSU on top.

The Hurricanes would then get a touchdown after Travis Benjamin returned a 79 yard punt for the score, 17-20.

Ohio State would answer back with two field goals, the score was 26-17 at the half.  So, the 1st half was owned by Ohio State, the 2nd half did not have a whole lot of action, but it had enough.

In the 3rd quarter, the Silver Bullets would score in the 3rd quarter twice.  The first score was off of an interception by CAMERON HEYWARD, it was an 80 yard return, setting up a 13 yard rushing touchdown by Terrelle Pryor, 33-17 the score.  Make it 36-17 after Devin Barclay kicked another field goal, his school-tying-record, 5th of the game.

There would be just one more score of the game, that was a Miami touchdown in the 4th, as Harris connected with Ford with the 9 yard score, 36-24 the score, and that was how she finished.

Pryor was 12/27 with 1 touchdown, and no interceptions off of 233 yards.

Ohio State is now 2-0 and will play next Saturday at home versus Ohio.  Game time is set for Noon ET, and will be televised on the Big Ten Network.
