The Cincinnati Reds could capture the NL Central Title with a sweep of the Brewers, in addition with the Cardinals getting swept. The Reds won in game one versus the Milwaukee Brewers, as Homer Bailey looked great, despite not getting a win for it, and also, the Reds sluggers looked great. Cincinnati wins 5-2, here is how it all happened.
The Brew Crew would cut the lead in half in the 3rd when Ryan Braun grounded out to bring in the speedy Weeks from 3rd, 2-1 the score. Milwaukee would tie it up in the 5th, when Ryan Braun hit an RBI double, his 41st two-bagger of the year, Weeks would score, 2-2 the score.
The game would remain tied until the visitor's 8th. With a man on and one out, the MVP Candidate, Joey Votto hit a 2-run jack to left, his 35th of the season, 4-2 Redlegs on top. Before Votto's at-bat, him and Scott Rolen were arguing about who was taller, the only way they could find out is if they went back-to-back, and that they did. Scott Rolen hit a solo home run, his 20th long-ball of the year, and the Reds had a 5-2 lead, and that would be the final.
Both Homer Bailey, who is looking to prove to Dusty Baker that he should make the post-season rotation, and Chris Capuano, whose team cannot make the playoffs this year, did very well. Both are left with no-decisions.
St. Louis lost in a make-up game to Florida, 4-0, so the Reds are back to being 7 games up. The 'legs are sporting a record of 85-66, and improve their magic number to 6.
