Randall Cobb scored just about every way possible in tonight's games. He scored 3 TDs and now ranks 2nd all time in TDs scored in UK history. Cobb caught one TD, threw for another and returned a punt 50 yards to the end zone. Joker Phillips becomes the 2nd coach in UK history to start out 2-0 in their first two games at Kentucky. The other was none other but the legendary Paul "Bear" Bryant. This would be UK's 17th straight non-conference win and the 22nd straight loss for WKU dating back to the last time the Cats and Hilltoppers met back in 2008. Mike Hartline completed 16 of 20 passes for 213 yards and tied a career-high with three touchdowns. Derrick Locke ran for 102 yards and one TD. For WKU, Bobby Rainey ran for 184 yards and two TDs but it was not enough as Kentucky defeated Western Kentucky 63-28.
1st Quarter
WKU: Bobby Rainey rushed for a 59-yard TD. 7-0 WKU
UK: Mike Hartline threw a 2-yard TD to Chris Matthews. Game tied 7-7.
UK: Mike Hartline rushed for a 10-yard TD. UK takes a 14-7 lead.
2nd Quarter
UK: Randall Cobb returned a punt for 50 yards giving UK a 21-7 lead.
UK: Derricke Locke scored a 1-yard rushing TD and UK is up 28-7.
UK: Randall Cobb threw a 15-yard TD pass to Moncell Allen. Kentucky up 35-7.
UK: Willie McNea; returned a punt for 90 yards and scored a TD. Kentucky up 35-14.
UK: Mike Hartline threw a 4-yard TD to LaRod King that gave UK a 42-14 lead.
3rd Quarter
WKU: Bobby Rainey scored a 1-yard TD cutting Kentucky's lead in half and UK is up 42-21
UK: Mike Hartline completes a 35-yard TD pass to Randall Cobb to put the Cats up 49-21.
4th Quarter
WKU: Kawaun Jakes threw a 34-yard TD pass to Marcus Vasquez and the Cats hold a 49-28 lead.
UK: Raymond Sanders scores his first career TD for 10 yard to the Kentucky a 56-28 lead.
UK: Raymond Sanders would again score another TD, this time for one yard and Kentucky wins 63-28.
Kentucky plays the Akron Zips Saturday of next weekend at 7 PM and televised on FSS.
