Kentucky played a good game today without the two main sparks to their offense, Randall Cobb and Derricke Locke. Locke missed the game because of torn scar tissue in his surgically repaired left knee. Cobb sat out today with a sprained thumb and was seen most of the game wearing a cast. Cobb was dressed and cleared to play but Coach Brooks decided to hold him out to prevent further injury.
However, Morgan Newton played his best game of the season today. He was 20-for-29 passing today with 187 yards and threw his first two career touchdowns vs EKU. WRs Chris Matthews and LaRod King both had career days: Matthews had seven catches for 56 yards and a TD, and King had four receptions for 41 yards. The offense didn't turn the ball over and had only three penalties for 20 yards. The defense gave up just 264 yards today. Cartier Rice and Sam Maxwell each came away with a pick in today's game.

Quotes from the game:
"I thought it was a workmanlike effort, if you will," Brooks said. "I thought our guys really kind of took care of what they needed to take care of in this game."
"We just kind of grinded this one out," said senior defensive tackle Corey Peters.
"Everybody pulled together, the offense, the defense, the special teams," said UK head coach for offense Joker Phillips. "And we talked about the turnovers. You can't let a team like this stay in the game long. The longer they stay in the game, the more confident they get, and then you start pressing."
Kentucky is now 5-4 extending their non-conference winning streak to 18 games and the Cats are now one victory from being Bowl Game eligible for the 4th consecutive season.
