Bengals clinch AFC North

By: Cooper Ledford

The Cincinnati Bengals (10-5) were hosting the Kansas City Chiefs (3-12) Sunday. The Chiefs had nothing to play for, while the Bengals had a lot to play for. One thing was a win for fallen teammate, Chris Henry. Another reason was to clinch the AFC North Division and go into the playoffs. Cincinnati was successful and won in a close game 17-10, I was at the game and it was a great one, here is how the scoring took place.

To start things off, in the second quarter, Shayne Graham kicked a 29 yard field goal to make it 3-0 Cincy on top. Just before the half, Ryan Succop kicked a field goal for Kansas City, this one from 30 yards out, it was tied at 3 at the half. Cincinnati would then get the lead, in the third quarter when Palmer found Laveranues Coles for the go-ahead touchdown pass, it was 10-3 Bengals on top. The Chiefs would then tie it up early in the fourth when Matt Cassel connected with Tim Castille for a 10 yard touchdown, it was 10-10. With only 2:03 to go in the game, Cincinnati had the ball on third and goal, they wanted a touchdown to get a seven point lead, Palmer was back to pass and connected with Chad Ochocinco for a six yard touchdown pass and Cincinnati had a 17-10 point lead, which was enough to put this one in the books.

The Bengals clinch the AFC North and will travel to the Big Apple to take on the Jets on Sunday at 1:00 PM ET, the game will be on 700 WLW and CBS.
