The Kentucky Wildcats were playing in the Gaylord Hotels Music City Bowl on Sunday (12/27/09) against the runner-up in the ACC, the Clemson Tigers. Kentucky ended up losing by 8, but both teams played a great game. Here is how the scoring took place.
To start things off, Morgan Newton connected with Chris Matthews for on UK's first drive to give the Wildcats a 7-0 lead. The Tigers would answer back late in the first quarter when Parker found Ford for a 32 yard touchdown pass, we were tied at 7. In the second quarter, Kentucky would get the lead when Lones Seiber kicked a 39 yard field goal to make it 10-7. Clemson would then take the lead when Jamie Harper ran for a one yard touchdown, the score was 14-10 going into the third quarter. On Kentucky's first drive of the second half, Lones Seiber kicked a 44 yard field goal to make it a one point game, 14-13 Tigers still on top. Clemson would then come up big with C.J Spiller, he ran for an eight yard touchdown to give the Tigers a 21-13 lead. The Clemson defense would put the seal on the envelope when they stopped Newton's run on fourth down, a turnover and Clemson won.
