The Cincinnati Reds started their six game road trip, Friday, their first stop was in Seattle, Washington. Seattle is famous for coffe, and to Mariners fans, this game was like a cup of coffe, quick, simple, and great. It was a pitchers' duel, Johnny Cueto vs. Cliff Lee. Cueto shined, but Cliff Lee did even better, throwing a complete game shutout. The M's won 1-0.
The only run of the game was off the bat of Josh Wilson, as he hit an RBI single, just dropping in front of Chris Heisey, that would plate Jose Lopez, as Lopez just missed the tag from Corky Miller, that was in the 6th inning, the Reds failed to get on the board, but that is the power of Cliff Lee.
With this loss, and the Cards winning, the Reds fall out of 1st place, as they are .5 games behind the Red Birds.
Perhaps the Reds need to play small ball in their next game, for two reasons:
- The Reds face another great pitcher, being Felix Hernandez.
- They are in a huge ballpark, Safeco Field, where it is hard to hit home runs, they don't need to swing at the fence, just worry about: Get 'em on, get 'em over, get 'em in, then the Reds have a shot.
Cliff Lee went all 9 innings, gave up 6 hits, 0 ER, 0 BB, and 7 K's. Cliff Lee has only walked 4 batters this season...COME TO CINCINNATI, CLIFF!
