Pitchers' Duel Turns Out To Be Slug Fest, More So For G-Men

By:  Cooper Ledford

The Cincinnati Reds were hosting the San Francisco Giants to start a four game series.  It was expected to be a pitchers' duel, Johnny Cueto vs. Barry Zito, but instead it was a slug fest, tons of hits, but more hits and runs for the Giants, as they won 6-5, here is how.

To start things off in the 2nd, the pitcher, Barry Zito hit a single which plated two, and the G-Men had an early 2-0 lead.

Cincinnati would get on the board in the 2nd, as Drew Stubbs hit an RBI single to plate Scott Rolen, it was 2-1, but not for long.

In the 3rd inning, Juan Uribe hit an RBI single, it plated Sandoval and Huff, it was 4-1 with the Giants on top, so not a great start for Johnny Cueto.

In the 4th inning, Jonny Gomes hit a sac fly to plate Rolen, it was 4-2.  Same inning, Jay Bruce made it a one-run game with a solo home run, the 8th time he has gone yard this season, it was 4-3.  The Redlegs would then take the lead in the 6th inning, when Cairo hit a single which brought Bruce and Stubbs around to score, it was 5-4 and the 'Nati had the lead.  Unfortunatly, it would not last.

In the 7th inning, Uribe got two ribbies off of a single, it plated Sanchez and Sandoval, it was 6-5, and that is how she finished.  The loser is Daniel Ray Herrera, the winner is Romo, and the save goes to Brian Wilson.
