In the 1st round of the MLB First Player Draft, the Cincinnati Reds Selected a switch hitting catcher out of the University of Miami (FL), Yasmani Grandal. The 6-foot-2, 210 pounder, is hitting .412 so far this year (Miami is still playing in the College World Series), he had 14 home runs and 56 RBI's. Also, Yasmani is a native of Cuba.
It is some-what of a surprise that the Reds passed up on Alex Wimmers, the pitcher from Ohio State, as he went to the Twins.
