Reds Acquire INF Aaron Miles in 4-Player Deal

The Cincinnati Reds trade Utitility Player Adam Rosales and Outfielder Willy Taveras for to the Oakland Athletics Infielder Aaron Miles and a player to be named later. Questionable move by the Reds as the infield seemed pretty much set with Orlando Cabera signing with Cincinnati yesterday. Probably a move to cut dead weight off the roster and provide salary relief. Miles and GM Walt Jocketty reunite again after being together in 2006 at St. Louis when the Cardinals won the World Series. Miles hit just .185 for the Cubs last season in 74 games. The Oakland A's promptly released Willy Taveras making him a free agent. Drew Stubbs or Chris Dickerson were likely to be ahead of Taveras on the depth chart for the outfield going into this season anyway. No additional cash will be sent to either team in this deal and the Reds will pay out the remainder of Miles's $2.7 million contract. Miles has a .282 career average with a total of 16 home runs and 175 RBI's in 717 games and 2234 career at bats. Rosales spent the weekend traveling with the Reds to see fans on Cincinnati's Winter Caravan and is now packing his bags for Oakland, California.
