Grading The SWO Teams In 2010

By:  Cooper Ledford

Here are my grades for all of the SWO Sports teams on what they have done so far, or how they did in the 2010 season.

Cincinnati Reds: A+ The Reds had a great turnaround season to win the NL Central.  The shocked a lot of people.  This A+ is close to just an A because they did struggle against tougher teams, but I am proud of the Boys Of Summer and expect a great season in 2011.

Cincinnati Bengals: D  The Bengals have had a very bad 2010 season so far.  They do have good wins over Baltimore and San Diego, but they have only won 4 games.  I blame it all on Chad Ochocinco and Terrell Owens.  They ruined this team.  The defense has also looked bad at times.  I don't blame Marvin Lewis nor Carson Palmer, it is those divas that call themselves wide receivers that is hurting us.

Cincinnati Commandos: A+  For those of you who don't know what the Commandos are, they are a CIFL Football Team.  The Commandos suffered only one loss, to Wisconsin, but went on to win the CIFL Title over Wisconsin.  A great season for Ben Mauk and the Commandos.

Cincinnati Bearcats Football: D  The Bearcats lost some close games, like to USF and other teams.  They did not look good when they needed too.  They did play a game with Oklahoma, which is pretty much their highlight of the season.  I don't blame the Bearcats failures on Butch Jones, they did not lose games because of no Brian Kelly, they lost games because they did not have Tony Pike nor Mardy Gilyard.  Zach Collaros needs to get smarter and try and lead UC to a bowl game in 2011.

Kentucky Football: C  The Wildcats went 6-6, put them in a weaker conference like the Big East or ACC, and they probably go at least 8-4.  They are a good team, but in too tough of a conference.  They did play a game with the Auburn Tigers, and actually gave them a good scare.

Ohio State Football: A  The Buckeyes had a great season, going 11-1.  The only reason why they did not get an A+ is because of that loss to Wisconsin.  This season was the best chance the Bucks had to win a National Championship in a long time, as they have good senior players that will be in the NFL next season, along with the younger talents, but they came up short for the National Championship.  OSU is heading to New Orleans to take on Arkansas in the Sugar Bowl, and looking to win a BCS Bowl game for the 2nd year in a row.  If they win, give them an A+ on finally beating an SEC team in a bowl game.

Cincinnati Basketball: A+  UC is perfect, 13-0 right now, so you really can't not give them an A.  They have not played many good teams, they played Miami (OH), Seton Hall, and DePaul, which is about it.  I will tell you how good they really are when they get deeper into Big East play and play teams like Syracuse, Pitt, West Virginia, and UConn.

Xavier Basketball: C+  The Muskies have lost 4 games so far, including a home loss to Florida, which was XU's first home loss in 30 games.  The Muskies look like they can't find any kind of groove on offense, they struggle to put up enough points, they are not consistent on defense, and they get too impatient.  I still say they will make the NCAA Tournament and do some damage in the tourny, but they need to get things together and put a good regular season together.

Kentucky Basketball: A-  The Wildcats have lost to UNC and Uconn.  Uconn is having a very good season thus far, and UNC is alright.  The Wildcats have looked good other than in those two games.  I think the Wildcats will still compete, and win, the SEC and maybe even be a #1 seed in the tournament, I know it's early, but Coach Cal's squad could be very dangerous this season.

Ohio State Basketball: A+  Just like Cincinnati, The Buckeyes are undefeated in basketball.  They have beat decent teams like Florida State, Florida, and Indiana.  We will see how long they can be perfect once they get deeper into Big Ten play, when they play teams like Purdue, Michigan State, Wisconsin, Minnesota, and teams like that.
