The #2 Ohio State Buckeyes (17-0, 4-0 Big Ten) were hosting the Penn State Nittany Lions (10-6, 3-2 Big Ten), Saturday. The Bucks were trying to remain perfect and be ranked #1 in the polls, since Duke lost to Florida State on Wednesday. Penn State was red-hot, they had beaten ranked teams in back-to-back games, as they beat Michigan State and Illinois, so PSU's goal was to knock off yet another ranked team. OSU stopped that from happening as they won 69-66, and go to 18-0 overall, and 5-0 in the Big Ten. Also, in all likely-hood, the Bucks will be #1 in the polls.
A big reason why Ohio State won is the performance by the Freshman, Jared Sullinger, as he had 19 points, and a huge three-point play with 13.2 second left in the game. Sully also led the way in boards with 6.
Another Freshman, Aaron Craft, also had 19 points, a career-high for him. Craft also played great on defense, and had 7 assist.
There were two other Buckeyes in double-figures, William Buford and Jon Diebler. Buford had 13, and Diebler added 10.
Penn State looked well in a lot of categories, including rebounds, the Nittany Lions out-rebounded the Buckeyes 25-15, and 7 of those boards were offensive.
So like I said in paragraph 1, the Buckeyes are 18-0, should be ranked #1 in the polls, and all that good stuff. Next, the soon-to-be #1 Buckeyes will take on Iowa at Value City Arena (that's in Columbus if you didn't know). The game will be Wednesday at 6:30 PM ET and will be on the Big Ten Network.
