Reds Fall To Pirates In Game One

By:  Cooper Ledford

The Cincinnati Reds returned home to start a four-game series against the Pirates.  Bronson Arroyo was on the hill for the Reds, while Charlie Morton was pitching for Pittsburgh.  Both pitchers have looked very good so far this season, but it was Morton who shined tonight, and got the win.  The Pirates end their four-game losing streak, and the Reds are riding a two-game losing streak.  The final score, 6-1.  Here is how.

In the 2nd inning, Garrett Jones hit a solo home run, 1-0 early on.  In the 3rd, Snyder hit an RBI single 2-0, in the 4th Overbay hit an RBI single 3-0, then in the same inning, Neil Walker hit a 2-run homer, 5-0 the score.  Then in the 9th, Snyder hit an RBI single off of Ondruskek, 6-0 the score.  That is the first run Logan Ondrusek has gave up this season.

Then in the 9th, with the bases empty and 2 gone, Jay Bruce went yard to center field, his first home run of the season, 6-1 the score, and that is how she finished.

The Brewers lost to the Nationals, that means that the Reds are still 1 game up on them for 1st place in the NL Central.

Tomorrow the Reds play at 1:10 PM ET on Fox Sports Ohio.  Edinson Volquez will pitch for the Reds.
