Defense does the job, leads Buckeyes to 31-13 victory

By: Cooper Ledford SWO SPORTS FOUNDER AND CEO

The Ohio State Buckeyes hosted the Wisconsin Badgers Saturday. Wisconsin was 5-0 and 1st in the Big Ten, OSU was 4-1 and 2nd in the Big Ten. OSU would win it 31-13, here's how.

In the 1st quarter, Wisconsin had a nice drive going, until Scott Tolzien found the wrong team, Kurt Coleman picked it, and took it back 89 yards, for an early 7-0 lead for the Bucks. Wisconsin was trying to tie it, they would do that when they faked a field goal and the holder, Chris Maragos ran it 9 yards to tie it at 7. Wisconsin then would take the lead with a Philip Welch 50 yard field goal. That was only the 3rd time that a team has had the lead against OSU this season- of couse USC had it twice. Anyways, it was 10-7 Wisconsin on top. Ohio State would manage to get the lead back when Terrelle Pryor threw a bomb to the end zone and found a well covered DeVier Posey, but he came down with the ball somehow and it was 14-10 OSU on top- that was the score at the half. Then into the 3rd quarter, Tolzien found the wrong team once again, this time Jermale Hines tipped, and picked 6 (to those that do not know what pick 6 means, it is an interception returned for a touchdown). That was OSU's second pick 6 of the game and they had the lead 21-10. UW would make it a bit closer, an 8 point game when Philip Welch nailed a 46 yard field goal to make it 21-13 OSU still on top. The Badgers did not know that is all they would get, and that their confidence would soon go away. On the kickoff, Ray Small was back to return, and #82 took it all the way, 96 yards for a touchdown, a nice special teams play to make your team look special. It was now a 2 score game, 28-13- that was the score into the 4th quarter. Aaron Pettrey would give Buckeye fans a little more happiness when he nailed a 37 yard field goal to make it 31-13, and that was the final.

Ohio State is now #1 in the Bigten and UW is is #3. Ohio State's AP ranking has not moved, still at #9.
