Dusty Baker Re-signs With Reds

By:  Cooper Ledford

Reds Manager, Dusty Baker, has agreed to a 2-year deal with Cincinnati, good through 2012.

"I am happy, my family is happy, my coaches are happy" Baker said.  "To me, this is just the first step in a long line of wins and excellent years."

The 61-year-old skipper is in his 3rd season with the Reds, as he is an even record at 243-243.

One of the biggest beneficiaries was of Baker's even hand was right fielder Jay Bruce, who endured a miserable month of July amid calls he should be sent down. Bruce came on strong the final two months, as did center fielder Drew Stubbs, who finished his first full season with 20 home runs and 30 steals.
"He's a great guy to play for," Bruce said. "It breeds confidence, breeds comfort and it lets us be successful when you're not looking over your shoulder the whole time. He's easy to play for."
