Ohio State Pounds Purdue

By:  Cooper Ledford

Last year, #7Ohio State was upset by Purdue, this year was a different story.  The Buckeyes were coming off a loss to Wisconsin, and were looking to bounce back, and get revenge on the Boilermakers, and that they did.  Ohio State dominated PU and won 49-0, here is how.

On the Buckeyes first possession, Dan "Boom" Herron had a 10 yard touchdown run, and OSU was up 7-0.  Make it 14-0 after another touchdown run by Herron, this one for 2 yards.  So, Dan Herron was looking good early on, he finished with 75 yards on 15 carries. 14-0 was the score at the end of the 1st quarter.

Ohio State would be back at it in the 2nd, when Jordan Hall ran it in from 1 yard out 21-0 the score.  So all 3 scores were from the ground.  The 10th ranked Buckeyes would get points through the air when Terrelle Pryor connected with DeVier Posey for a 22 yard score, 28-0.  Then, Pryor and Sanzenbacher would connect for a 7 yard score, 35-0 the score.  Corey Brown would get a TD reception from Pryor as well, it was 15 yard score, 42-0 the score at the half.

There would be no scoring at all in the 3rd quarter, maybe because Joe Bauserman was playing.  In the 4th quarter, there was scoring, and Bauserman was playing.  He connected with Spencer Smith for a 23 yard touchdown pass.  Has anyone ever even heard of Spencer Smith?  49-0 would be the score, and that is how she finished.

A great job by the offense, because they scored 49, and defense, because they shut out a team for the first time this season.  Terrelle Pryor went 16/22, had 270 passing yards, had 3 touchdowns, and threw 2 picks.

Ohio State is now 7-1, they are guaranteed to have a winning record, and go to a bowl game, but they have much higher aspirations and expectations than that.

Next week, Ohio State will go to Minnesota and take on the struggling Golden Gophers.  Game time will be at 8:00 PM ET and will be televised on ABC.
