The Cincinnati Bengals were playing in their second preseason game of the year, and after looking terrible against the Cowboys, they were trying to get revenge on the Broncos (remember that heart breaking loss in week 1 of 2009?). The Bengals were looking bad early, falling behind 14-0, but then scored 17 unanswered points, and then were tied at the half, but then took the lead and never looked back as the Bengals win 33-24. Here is how.
Denver scored first, in the 1st quarter with just over 12 minutes to go, with a 12 touchdown pass from Orton to Royal, that made it 6-0, and after the point after by Prater, it was 7-0. Then, still in the 1st quarter, Kyle Orton connected with Brandon Lloyd, the score was 14-0.
Cincinnati got their first offensive score of the year in the 2nd quarter when Cedric Benson ran for a 1 yard touchdown, and it was 14-7. Then, later on in the 2nd, Dave Rayner kicked a 36 yard field goal, it was 14-10 now. Then, the Broncos would get the ball back, only to give it up, as David Jones picked it, and ran it back for a 25 yard touchdown, and that would give the Bengals a 17-14 lead.
Denver would score just before the half, when Matt Prater kicked a 28 yard field goal, and it was a tie game, 17-17 at the half. The second half would be dominated by the Bengals.
In the 3rd quarter, Dave Rayner kicked 2 field goals, the score was 23-17 going into the 4th. In the 4th quarter, James Johnson ran it in for a 1 yard touchdown, and that would make it 30-17, then later on, Rayner kicked a field goal from 26 yards out to make it 33-17. But, Denver was not done yet, Tim Tebow (ever heard of that guy?) scored his first NFL touchdown, with a 7 yard run, that would make the score 33-24, and that was how she finished.
So the Bengals are now 1-1 this preseason, and the Broncos are 0-1. Next, the Bengals will host the Eagles, that game will be on Saturday at 8:00 PM ET and will be televised on Fox.
