First of all, sorry I have not posted lately. I have been busy with school, and plus the games were on the West Coast, so it would be hard for me to make them, but I will make recaps for the rest of the home-stand. Anyways, the 1st Place Cincinnati Reds were hosting the Chicago Cubs, Friday, as Johnny Cueto was on the hill. Cueto looked good, but was not the star of the night, it was
In the 1st inning, Joey Votto hit an RBI single to plate Chris Valaika, the score was 1-0 and Cincy had an early lead. That lead would be doubled in the 3rd when Jay Bruce hit his 1st homer of the night, his 14th of the season, and it was 2-0.
The Baby Bears got on the board in the 4th when Tyler Colvin hit an RBI double to bring in Xavier Nady, and it was 2-1 with the Redlegs still on top. That 1-run-game would not last long.
In the bottom of the 5th, Jay Bruce hit his 2nd of the game, and 15th of the season, this one a 3-run dinger, and it was 5-1. Then, same inning, Chris Valaika hit his 1st career home run, as it went to left-center field. That made the score 6-1. Then, in the 7th, Jay Bruce got the hat-trick and homered to right field, 7-1 the score and that is how she finished, y'all.
Johnny Cueto is the winner, as he went 8 strong innings, gave up 6 hits, 1 run, did not walk a better, and fanned 8. Cueto is now 12-4 on the year.
Tomorrow, the Reds will have Bronson Arroyo (14-7, 3.82 ERA) on the hill, the North-Siders will have Randy Wells (5-12, 4.56 ERA) pitching. Game time is set for 7:10 PM ET and will be televised on FS Ohio.
