Even if the Reds fell out of 1st place in the NL Central, and blew a 2 game lead over the Cardinals, after being swept by St. Louis, Reds fans must turn the page and keep their chins up. It is just a 3 game losing sweep, it could be worse, Tampa Bay got swept by Baltimore (Buck is good!). Also, the Reds sit JUST ONE GAME BACK IN THE CENTRAL! The Reds have been down by more than 1 game this year, so this is not the end of the world, the Reds are still up there in the wildcard standings, and can still win the Central. The Reds have the "easiest" schedule left in all of baseball, they play sub-.500 teams, with a few good teams scattered in.
Another thing, look at the Reds place, 2nd, and their record, 13 games over .500. This time last year, the Reds had a 49-63 record, this year, it is almost reversed, at 64-51. Also, in 2008 the Reds record at this time was 52-67, and they were in LAST PLACE! Then, in 2007 they had a record at this time of 50-66, in 2006 the Reds did OK, but they were just 2 games over .500 with a record of 59-57. In 2005, they had a record of 52-62, in 2004, their record was 54-59. In 2003, 52-65. Get the picture? The Cincinnati Reds are for real this year, and they are doing MUCH better than they have been. So 3 losses is not all that bad. We, as Reds fans, have no room to complain. Now, if the Reds were a 39-win team, then we could complain, but when they are 1 game back in the NL Central, and are doing so good, we cannot.
Think about this, last year, the Reds fished with a final record of 78-84. The Reds currently have 64 wins, do the math, 14 more wins this year, and we are already better than the 2009 team.
