Jon Diebler had 16 points in OSU's win over Michigan, Saturday |
The last time the Buckeyes and Wolverines met up in the Big Ten Tournament was last year, when Evan Turner gave OSU the win with a 34-foot buzzer-beater. This time, there was no buzzer-beater needed, even though it look as if it may need one at times. Ohio State was the team to pick up the win, 68-61.
The Buckeyes and Wolverines both played good in the 1st half, and was a very good game, the lead was only 4 at the half with Ohio State leading.
To start the 2nd half, Ohio State looked great, and at one point went on an 18-3 run, and with 5 minutes to go, it was an 18 point Buckeye lead. But, Michigan would not go away quietly. Michigan played good defense, made 3's, and were able to some how keep getting the ball back. With under 30 seconds to go, it was a 4 point game. But, OSU was able to get the ball into Jon Diebler's hands, he was fouled going to the basket, got 1 point from the line, and made the lead 5. Michigan would then miss on a 3-pointer, Lighty would get the rebound, and that would seal the deal.
Jared Sullinger had a double-double, as he had 14 points and 13 rebounds, but was not the leading scorer. The leading scorer was the Senior, Jon Diebler. Jon had 16 points, and 3 3-pointers. William Duford added 14, while Thomas added 9, as did Craft.
So, Ohio State beats Michigan for the 3rd time this year, and pick up win #31. Next, the Buckeyes will play in the Big Ten Championship game against either Penn State or Michigan State. That game will be tomorrow at 3:30 PM ET and will be televised on CBS.
