Bearcats complete perfect season, on to BCS.

By: Javier Lopez

The Cincinnati Bearcats were undefeated going into the game vs. the Pittsburgh Panthers. Pitt was 9-2, this game was the Big east Championship game, the winner would go to the Sugar or Orange Bowl. UC was down most of the game, but came back and won 45-44. Here is how.

After 1 touchdown run for each team at the end of the 1st quarter it was 7-7. In the second, Stull connected with Jonathan Baldwin for a 22 yard TD and Pitt grabed at 14-7 lead. UC would answer back with a 20 yard field goal and it was 10-14 PITT. The Panthers then got 2 TDs and a field goal before Mardy Gilyard took the kickoff 99 yards to the endzone to make it closer, 31-17 Pittsburgh still on top into the 3rd QRT. To start 3rd QRT scoring, Pike connected with Gilyard for a 68 yard pass, it was 31-24, Bearcats in reach. Dion Lewis would make it harder for a comeback, when he ran for a 15 yard TD, it was 38-24. Cincinnati would get it closer when Pike found D.J. Woods in the endzone for a TD, however the PAT was failed it was 30-38, Cats needed a TD and a 2 pointer to tie it. UC got a TD later on when Pead ran in for a 1 yard score it was 38-36, UC needing a 2 point conversion to tie it. On the 2 point try, Pike was pressured, and threw to the back of the endzone and found #1 Mardy Gilyard to tie it up with 05:46 to go. However Pitt would get a TD on a Dion Lewis 5 TD run, but then they failed on the PAT with a bad snap, UC only needed 7 to win. With 33 seconds to go, Pike threw the ball and found Binns with a great catch, 29 yards for a touchdown, we were tied at 44, and UC sent on the PAT unit. Jake Rogers kick was up and good, UC had a 45-44 lead, their first of the game and that was the final. UC is 12-0 and they will more than likely face Florida in the Sugar Bowl.
