Ohio State to play Oregon in Rose Bowl.

By: Cooper Ledford SWO SPORTS FOUNDER AND CEO

The Ohio State Buckeyes (10-2) will play the Oregon Ducks (10-2) on New Year's Day in Pasadena in the Rose Bowl.
Oregon has a great offense with a great Junior quarterback Jeremiah Masoli. Masoli has 2,066 passing yards along with 659 rushing yards. Oregon has done well against tough teams such as Southern California (which Ohio State lost to) and Boise State (even though they lost that game). Oregon has a great rushing attack as well. LaMichael James can run very good, along with Kenjon Barner and Masoli. Combined they have a total of 2,437 rushing yards.
Oregon may have the better offense, but Ohio State has a better defense. With great defensive players, such as Kurt Coleman, Cameron Hayward, Thaddeus Gibson, Brian Rolle, and Doug Worthington. Ohio State defense holds opponents to an average of just over 12 PPG this season. The Buckeyes also lead that nation in interceptions, which the secondary could come up big in the Rose Bowl against Oregon's passing. Along with The Buckeye's defense, their offense can be great at times. OSU is more of a running team, quarterback Terrelle Pryor alone has 1,825 rushing yards. Other great runners for OSU are Dan "Boom" Herron, Brandon Saine, and Jordan Hall. Pryor, Herron, Saine, and Hall have a combined 2,207 rushing yards.
Ohio State and Oregon both have great receivers. The Ducks have Jeff Maehl (52 receptions, 686 yards, six touchdowns), Ed Dickson (42 receptions, 551 yards, six touchdowns), D.J. Davis (22 receptions, 230 yards, two touchdowns), and Jamere Holland (13 receptions, 199 yards, two touchdowns). Ohio State has DeVier Posey (52 receptions, 727 yards, seven touchdowns, plus one passing touchdown), Dane Sanzenbacher (27 receptions, 506 yards, six touchdowns), Duron Carter (13 receptions, 176 yards, one touchdown), Ray Small (15 receptions, 175 yards), and Brandon Saine (15 receptions, 165 yards, one touchdown). Ohio State and Oregon are Evelyn matched on reciving.
