Chapmania Arrives in Cincy, As Does Win

By:  Cooper Ledford

The Cincinnati Reds were hosting the Milwaukee Brewers, Tuesday night.  Pitching for the Brewers was one of the best pitchers in the CentralYovani Gallardo and for the Reds, it was Aaron Harang, remember him?  The Reds ended up winning 8-4, but Harang's amazing 4 innings was not the story of the night.  The story of the night was the "Cuban Missal", Aroldis Chapman making his MLB debut.  Here is how all the action took place.

To start things off, Milwaukee took a 1-0 in the 1st inning, when Prince Fielder hit an RBI single to bring in Hart.  So Aaron was looking like the same old Aaron that we all know and love  are tired of.  The Reds would help him out though.

In the Reds half of the 1st, the MVP candidate, Joey Votto hit a 2 RBI double, Stubbs and Valaika would score, and the Reds took a 2-1 lead.  In the 4th inning, Jonny Gomes hit his 101st homer of his career, his 15th of the season, this one was a 2-run-jack and the Reds lead 4-1.

The Brew Crew would make it a close game in the 5th, with 2 on and one out, the former Red, Chris Dickerson hit a single, Gomes was not able to field the ball, so two runs would score, so it is a single plus a 2-base error on Gomes.  Dickerson would go to 3rd, but Sam LeCure was able to keep him stranded there.

Joey Votto didn't really care for this whole, one-run game, deal, so he hit an RBI bloop double in the 5th to bring in Stubbs, and make the score 5-3.  Then, in the 6th, Paul Janish hit an RBI double to make it 6-3.  Same inning, Scott Rolen hit a 2 RBI double, that made it 8-3.

No action until the 8th, when Aroldis Chapman made his first MLB appearance.  He struck out Jonathan Lucroy swinging on 4 pitches, including his 1st pitch being clocked at 98mph.  Then, the next two batters, Counsell and Gomez he got to groundout.  His fastest pitch was to Counsell, as it was a fastball being clocked at 103 mph!  Wow!

The Reds have one more game left vs. the Crew, game-time is set for 7:10 PM ET and will be televised on FS Ohio.

Then, in the 9th inning, Weeks hit a solo home run, the score was 8-4 and that was how she finished.
