Practice is underway as we prepare for our Canada trip & I’m pleased with the energy everyone brought. I do want to let you all know that junior Darnell Dodson will not be playing for UK this season. If Darnell, who is academically eligible, decides to return,he could practice with the team if he meets our standards.
UK will need solid play from its veterans DeAndre Liggins, Darius Miller, Jon Hood, and Josh Harrellson for what will be a very young team that won't be very deep. Calipari said they have already improved "light years" over last season noting that Liggins shooting has gotten better, Hood is more comfortable on the court and quicker on his feet, and Darius Miller has impressed everyone with his athleticism. A lot of pressure will be put on Florida transfer Eloy Vargas and incoming freshman Terrence Jones, and Enes Kanter. Especially the freshmen Brandon Knight, Doron Lamb,and Stacey Poole in the back court where UK will need to fill the void left behind by Dodson. Eloy Vargas will not make the trip to Canada because he is still finishing up some classes since he is catching up so he can gain his eligibility for this coming season.
